ATOWAK is an independent watch brand from Hong Kong, founded by Johnny Deng in 2019. The inspiration behind ATOWAK comes from the ancient Caesar cipher. The name "ATOWAK" is derived from shifting the letters of "UNIQUE" by six positions, symbolizing the imaginative reconfiguration of mechanical timepieces through unique designs.
Before establishing ATOWAK, Johnny Deng's team accumulated over ten years of experience in watch design and manufacturing, providing them with the technical expertise to create distinctive timepieces. This solid foundation has enabled ATOWAK to grow rapidly, earning recognition in design and professional watchmaking. The brand has won two German iF Design Awards and the American MUSE Design Awards, including the Platinum Award. ATOWAK's watches are beloved by enthusiasts in 65 countries and regions worldwide, receiving widespread acclaim.
ATOWAK currently offers three main series: "Revitalized Legacy," "Mechanized Lifeforms," and "Transformed Imagination."
The Revitalized Legacy series centers on reshaping past concepts with innovative designs. The Mechanized Lifeforms series imbues watches with a sense of life, creating a deep connection with the wearer. The Transformed Imagination series blends science fiction with human aspirations, pushing the boundaries of imagination.
These three series represent the concepts of "past, present, and future" and are integrated into ATOWAK's signature wandering hour timepieces. As the hour wheel rotates, the hand that has passed through the 120° minute zone symbolizes the past, the hand currently in the zone represents the present, and the hand yet to reach the zone signifies the future. In this intricately designed time display, we honor the past, resonate with the present, and look forward to a promising future.
Since its inception, ATOWAK has been at the forefront of technical and design innovation. In 2020, ATOWAK released its first Wandering Hour watch, the ETTORE series, allowing users to enjoy complex complications at an accessible price through new proprietary structures and technologies. The 2022 release of the COBRA featured ATOWAK's pioneering tenon-and-mortise three-dimensional hour wheel system, using a carbon fiber lever and aluminum axis, without a single screw in the entire system. In 2023, ATOWAK made further advancements in manufacturing techniques and details. The TARANTULA showcased an exquisite sunburst pattern and matte-polished case, while the SPACESHIP impressed with its unique, large, irregularly shaped glass, making both models shine in the watchmaking world.
ATOWAK holds numerous watchmaking patents, solidifying its unique position in design and its leading status in manufacturing techniques. In 2024, ATOWAK plans to introduce more distinctive watches, including those featuring in-house tourbillon movements, continuing to reconstruct the mechanical moment.
